Save the Bay

Save The Bay is an independent, member-supported, nonprofit organization that was started in 1970, when a small group of concerned citizens came together to fight an oil refinery proposed for the shores of Tiverton. The vision is to ensure a fully swimmable, fishable, healthy Narragansett Bay, accessible to all.

Block Island Conservancy

The Block Island Conservancy is a non-profit conservation organization that works to protect Block Island’s heritage, rural character, and access to its natural resources through sustainable practices and the conservation of land. The CGSP has partnered with the BIC on many ventures ranging from developmental battles to land protection.

The Nature Conservancy

The Block Island Nature Conservancy’s mission is to protect the lands and waters on which all life depends, and for more than 50 years, we’ve been working on Block Island to protect and defend the environment against over development and poor land practices.


The Block Island Land Trust

To acquire, hold and manage real property and interests located in the town of New Shoreham consisting of open, agricultural, or littoral property, including well fields (existing and future), aquifer recharge areas, fresh and saltwater marshes and adjoining uplands, barrier beaches, wildlife habitats, access to views of the ocean, harbors and ponds, land for bicycling and hiking paths for future recreational use.
